For Immediate Release: The NJGOP is standing up for law enforcement and public safety.
October 1, 2019 Trenton, NJ – Earlier this year, Governor Phil Murphy’s administration ordered local law enforcement officials to stop cooperating with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents when detaining criminals who are also illegal immigrants.

Earlier this week ICE announced that it has arrested 54 people in New Jersey in an action targeting criminal illegal immigrants who were released from local law enforcement custody into the community instead of being transferred to ICE. Criminal illegal immigrants in New Jersey cannot be released to ICE custody due to the New Jersey Attorney General’s Immigrant Trust Directive. What was Attorney General Grewal’s response? To order New Jersey Sheriffs to end their agreements with ICE.

Back in March I asked “Where are Murphy, Menendez, Booker ad other New Jersey Democrats in the case of Joe Guidice?”. Guidice is being held in an ICE detention center awaiting a final decision on his deportation to Saronno Italy. Meanwhile Governor Murphy and his appointed Attorney General have doubled down on their efforts to protect criminal illegal immigrants in New Jersey, refuse to allow New Jersey law enforcement to cooperate with ICE, allotted $3.5 million in tax payer funding to the legal defense of criminal illegal immigrants, allotted $4 million in tax payer funding to the education of illegal immigrants, want to give driver licenses to illegal immigrants and the list goes on. Joe Guidice was born in Italy but was brought to the U.S. by his parents when he was a year old and raised in New Jersey. Why are Murphy and other New Jersey Democrats not coming to his defense? Are Italians not a large enough voting bloc for New Jersey Democrats?

After voting in July to file a federal lawsuit against Governor Murphy’s administration over the Immigrant Trust Directive that prohibits state, county and local law enforcement agencies from cooperating with ICE in New Jersey the Ocean County Board of Freeholders filed the lawsuit against Attorney General Grewal and his office. The Board of Freeholders is seeking a declaration that Grewal’s Immigrant Trust Directive exceeds the lawful scope of his authority and is preempted by the federal government’s exclusive authority to regulate and enforce immigration laws. It also seeks a declaration that the attorney general lacks authority to regulate the county’s sharing of inmate information with law enforcement agencies.

According to the latest Monmouth University polling released yesterday Governor Murphy’s job approval rating has remained low at 41% since polling earlier this year found his job approval rating to be just 43%. According to the poll Murphy is seen as being more concerned with his own political future than running New Jersey. Public opinion is negative on the impact of Murphy’s agenda on property tax payers and the middle class.

Governor Murphy announced back in July that he and wife Tammy Murphy would be making a seven day – six city tax payer funded trip to India with the supposed goal of strengthening economic ties between India and New Jersey. At about 10:30 last night Murphy tweeted that he and Mrs. Murphy were “Ready for takeoff!” and expressed their excitement about visiting India. I’m sure taxpayers all over New Jersey who could not afford a summer vacation are happy to be paying for the Murphy’s trip to India.

New Jersey’s radical leftist Governor is at it again. Speaking to a group in Bloomfield Monday night Governor Murphy said he would sign a bill granting undocumented illegal immigrants drivers licenses if a bill crossed his desk calling it a “no brainer.” “It’s a no-brainer. I’m frustrated that it’s not on my desk. I encourage you to call your Assembly person, your Senator, and ask him why it is stuck and not on the Governor’s desk because I will sign it” Murphy told a group inside Temple Ner Tamid in Bloomfield. The bill would give driver licenses to an estimated 400,000 undocumented illegal immigrants in New Jersey.

Eleven days ago we reported that New Jersey had joined a lawsuit against the trump Administration over the President’s public charge immigration rule. At the time we pointed out that New Jersey had been involved in seven law suits against the U.S. government and/or the Trump Administration in seven months and asked the question when will Governor Murphy and Attorney General Grewal stop using our tax dollars in their political war against Washington? Yesterday we were given our answer when New Jersey joined the eighth lawsuit against Washington in seven months.

There is a question that New Jerseyans find themselves asking far too often. Why does Governor Murphy hate the Jersey Shore? First it was the $15 minimum wage and short term rental tax (even the repeal of the short term rental tax sat on Murphy’s desk for approximately 6 weeks with no action). Now Murphy has vetoed legislation that would have allocated $4 million a year to make repairs to the boardwalk in and around Wildwood. Murphy will not help tourism in New Jersey while he approves spending almost $8 million a year on college tuition for illegal immigrants and the legal defense of illegal immigrants facing detention or deportation. Murphy appears to be doing all he can to destroy tourism at the Jersey Shore. Meanwhile in 2016 tourism generated $32.2 billion of GDP representing 6.5% of the entire state economy. That same year tourism in New Jersey generated $4.9 billion in state and local tax revenues. How can our Governor not do all he can to protect this revenue stream?
