To say that our nation is in a Democrat induced crisis is an understatement. The House is focused on impeaching President Trump because they know they cannot beat him at the polls in 2020. Healthcare costs continue to skyrocket thanks to the Affordable Care Act. We continue to have an emergency at our southern border. America is in an opioid crisis. Our nation is in a moral decline. Americans are divided more than ever before thanks to radical Liberalism. President Trump is working hard for America despite having to fight for the future of our nation as Democrats hold impeachment hearings. Our economy and job market are breaking records. America has it’s testicular fortitude back on the world stage. But what is U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D, NJ) focused on?
That’s right. Apparently Senator Booker believes that “discrimination against black hair” is the greatest crisis facing our nation. When I first saw this Tweet from Booker I thought it had to be a parody. Then I looked at his Twitter feed. There is was.
Booker introduced the CROWN Act in the Senate last week. The proposed legislation would ban discrimination based on hair textures and hair styles.
“Discrimination against black hair is discrimination against black people” Booker said “Implicit and explicit biases against natural hair are deeply ingrained in workplace norms and society at large. This is a violation of our civil rights, and it happens every day for black people across the country”.
According to Booker’s release existing federal law prohibits some forms of hair discrimination as a type of racial or national origin discrimination, some federal courts have narrowly construed those protections in a way that permits schools, workplaces and federally funded institutions to discriminate against people of African descent who wear certain types of natural or protective hairstyles. The point of the legislation is to “Create a respectful and open world for natural hair”.
New Jersey is considering similar legislation.
State Senator Sandra Cunningham (D) is sponsored S-3945 in June which would prohibit discrimination on the basis of hair under “law against discrimination”. “As a New Jersey legislator and as a black woman who wears her hair natural, I’m proud to be a part of this movement to protect Americans from systemic discrimination based on racial traits such as hairstyles; and I welcome Senator Booker to the cause,” Cunningham said in a statement. “It’s a shame it has to be written into law, but no one’s ability to progress in society should be contingent on how they choose to wear their hair” Cunningham said.
Apparently this is why we sent Booker and his Democrat colleagues to Washington and Cunningham and her Democrat colleagues to Trenton – to focus on hairstyles. America is in crisis. New Jersey is in crisis. Our elected representatives are focused on discrimination against hair styles.
