Last week on the Informed Conservative Blog we talked about New Jersey’s efforts to “legalize” marijuana, New Jersey’s hypocritical Democratic leadership, illegal immigrant students in New Jersey’s public schools, failed Camden County Freeholder and Pennsauken Township Committee candidate Vincent Squire continuing his con job, and we asked if New Jersey Republicans are mad yet. On the Informed Conservative Podcast our guest was Terry Beck who is leading the effort to recall Governor Murphy.
As if Governor Murphy thumbing his nose at federal law by making New Jersey a sanctuary state was not enough “legalized” marijuana is becoming closer to a reality in the state. According to Politico Governor Murphy, State Senate President Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Coughlin have reached a deal on marijuana “legalization”. It gets worse. NJ.com reported that the marijuana bill would include a provision to expunge the criminal records of people who have been convicted of marijuana offenses in New Jersey.
You may wonder why I put quotes around “legal” when discussing “legalizing” recreational marijuana. That is because although thirty states and the District of Columbia that have “legalized” marijuana and a total of 46 states that have some form of marijuana laws (laws regarding “legalized” marijuana, “decriminalizing” marijuana and “medical marijuana”) marijuana remains federally illegal (See the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) (21 U.S.C. § 811)). Under federal law marijuana is treated like every other controlled substance, such as cocaine and heroin. The federal government places every controlled substance in a schedule according to its relative potential for abuse and medicinal value. Under the Controlled Substances Act marijuana is classified as a Schedule 1 drug which means that the federal government views marijuana as highly addictive Federal marijuana laws are very serious and punishment for people found guilty is frequently very severe. Federal law considers marijuana a dangerous illegal drug despite not enforcing federal marijuana laws.
Dozens of municipalities in New Jersey apparently agree. In anticipation of a law “legalizing” marijuana almost 60-municipalities have preemptively banned marijuana sales in their towns
I have heard no mention of the effect of “legalized” marijuana on employers in New Jersey addressed by the Governor or legislature. While marijuana remains federally illegal employers can continue to test for marijuana – both pre-employment and during employment – and refuse to hire or terminate an employee for marijuana usage. This will become a slippery slope when employers begin to terminate employees for using marijuana during their off-time or refuse to hire potential employees who test positive for marijuana use.
It goes without saying I am opposed to states (and specifically New Jersey) “legalizing” marijuana. We are a nation of laws and our government cannot pick and choose which laws it enforces. If citizens want recreational marijuana legalized they must go to their federal representatives. No state can “legalize” marijuana while it remains federally illegal.
I have found myself angry many times over the past 13-months since since Governor Murphy took office. There may not have been a time when I was more angry then Tuesday morning when I learned that New Jersey is 1 of 16 states that joined a lawsuit filed Monday against President Trump to block his emergency declaration to build the wall. New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal who was appointed by Murphy said in a Tweet “The only emergency today is a President who refuses to adhere to the rule of law”. This of course coming from the AG who released his Immigrant Trust Directivelast year making New Jersey a sanctuary state, refusing to cooperate with ICE and defying federal immigration law. Murphy even budged $2.1 million for the legal defense of illegal immigrants facing detention or deportation (monies to fight the federal government in its efforts to enforce federal law).
New Jersey’s Democratic Governor, Democratic Legislature and Democrat appointed Attorney General have flagrantly ignored the rule of federal law over the past year. Why are the citizens of New Jersey not filing suit over our state government ignoring the rule of federal immigration law? Federal drug law?
The litigants apparently court shopped to the Ninth Circuit Federal Court in the Northern District of California where they felt they’d get a favorable ruling. The lawsuit seeks an injunction to prevent the President from shifting billions of dollars from military construction to the border without explicit congressional approval. The suit also asks a court to declare the President’s actions illegal and includes allegations that Trump is violating the National Environmental Policy Act by planning to build a wall that could impact the environment.
During a news conference at the White house Trump predicted that a lawsuit would be filed in the Ninth Circuit Court saying “So the order is signed and I’ll sign the final papers as soon as I get into the Oval Office. And we will have a national emergency and we will then be sued, and they will sue us in the Ninth Circuit even though it shouldn’t be there, and we will possibly get a bad ruling, and then we’ll get another bad ruling, and then we’ll end up in the Supreme Court and hopefully we’ll get a fair shake and we’ll win in the Supreme Court just like the ban. They sued us in the Ninth Circuit and we lost, and then we lost in the Appellate Division, and then we went to the Supreme Court and we won”.
It is Grewal’s comment “President who refuses to adhere to the rule of law” comment that has me the most angry this morning. When Grewal, Murphy and the New Jersey Legislature begin adhering to the rule of federal law they can criticize President Trump. Until then they are hypocrites.
According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform, New Jersey tax payers pay $1.6 billion annually for illegals to be educated. Based on estimates of the illegal immigrant population in New Jersey and documented costs of K-12 schooling, citizens of New Jersey spend more than $1.85 billion annually on education for illegal immigrants. This estimate does not include programs for limited English students, remedial educational programs or breakfast and lunch programs available to students from low income families. An estimated 11.7 percent of the K-12 public school are illegal.
As a current public school teacher who has spent almost a decade teaching in an urban town in Northern New Jersey, I have seen the disastrous impact illegal immigration has on our public school system. I teach in a school of 600 students. Of those 600 students, 250 are here illegally. I have been told by my administration that I am not allowed to fail the students who are here illegally. The main reason I have been given for this is that the illegal population does not understand English, and that I cannot fail someone who doesn’t understand what I am saying.
Urban areas, like the area I teach in, are impacted by illegal immigration more than suburban areas. Urban areas are generally less costly to live in, so illegals flock to these cities. Urban schools also have less funding than suburban schools, less materials, and less supplies. This issue hurts our American born students because the over population of illegal alien students means a lack of supplies for the entire student body. Take the illegal alien population out of the school, and the American born students would have more supplies, more one on one time with teachers, and a better all-around education. In my personal experience, I have a hard time reaching my American born students, because I must focus so much time on the illegal students because they do not understand what I am saying.
The United States Census Bureau states that it costs $12,028 to educate a single student, they estimate roughly 3.7 million illegal students, the cost comes out to be $44.5 billion dollars for the American tax payer. Remember that figure when a leftist liberal tells you that a few billion dollars is too much money for a wall.
Thursday 2/21/19. The con by failed candidate Vincent Squire continues.
The con by failed 2018 Camden County Freeholder and failed 2017 Pennsauken Township Committee candidate Vincent Squire continues. Anyone who has read this blog for a long period of times knows that Squire filed frivolous criminal charges against this blogger. While those charges make their way through the court system Squire appears to be trying to position himself as a victim. After a hearing in Municipal Court on Tuesday Squire had a Pennsauken Township Police Officer escort him from the building. He later claimed on social media that he has a full time body guard and GPS tracking with cameras. While Squire is acting as if he’s afraid of me he posts gym pictures of himself on social media. With his frivoulous criminal charges Squire is committing fraud in an attempt to shut down this blog. This blogger speculates it’s so he can run for office again without this blog reporting on him.
It was learned after the election that Squire continued to ignore the law and failed to file required financial disclosures to the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission. Squire had multiple billboards around South Jersey but refused to report to ELEC.
Thankfully Squire lost the election in 2018 also. He blames me and my reporting rather than being a flawed candidate for his multiple losses.
In October less than a month before the election Squire threatened to file criminal charges against me unless I removed every blog post, social media post or image I had posted about him and wrote a 500-word apology. I refused to do so and Squire filed 3 criminal charges giving false testimony in a probable cause hearing. Squire claimed that I had superimposed his picture onto an active warrant for another Vincent Squire wanted for murder in Virginia. Squire then posted a video on social media saying you like posting my old mug shot. The judge found you guilty and probable cause on two of the charges and we’re filing an appeal on the third one. And we’re filing a cease and desist order on your rag, I mean your blog. So we’re shutting you down. Clearly Squire, who wanted to serve the people of Camden County, does not know the difference between probable cause for charges to move forward and guilt. He also made his motivation clear when he said “we’re shutting you down”.
That brings us to this week. My Attorney and I have been waiting since October for Squire to submit his “evidence”. We’ve been in court 3-times. Squire told the Judge that we are attempting to delay proceedings until after he is “convicted in Superior Court” (I assume for Second Degree Felony Assault for hitting his son). Our discovery was submitted on time.
To the best of my knowledge Squire doesn’t work, the foreclosure of his family home is completed and the bank now owns the home. Perhaps Squire’s focus should be on his family and finding a place for them to live. Speculation is that Squire intends to run for office again in 2019 (if he’s not convicted of Second Degree Felony Assault and incarcerated). Instead of being focused on his family he is focused on shutting down this blog and the person he blames for his prior losses with his frivolous charges.
Every time we are in court Squire takes a selfie of himself and posts on social media. This time not only did he double-down on his false claim but had a Pennsauken Township Police Officer escort him from the building and later claimed on social media that he has a full time body guard and GPS tracking with cameras. What is the con now?
Squire runs as a Republican but based upon what I’ve seen from him I do not believe that Squire beliefs match a conservative ideology. I believe that he runs as a Republican because the Pennsauken and Camden County Democrats will not have him. Unfortunately the Republican party in Camden County is the weaker party and Squire is taking advantage of that. Squire is a convicted criminal and in my opinion a conman.
Friday 2/22/19. Are you mad yet New Jersey Republicans? Do something about it!
On February 2, 2019 i wrote a blog post entitled “New Jersey Democrats want to give Cory Booker’s Presidential campaign an advantage” about a bill before the New Jersey Legislature that “Requires candidates for President and Vice-President of United States to disclose federal income tax returns to appear on ballot” and “prohibits Electoral College electors from voting for candidates who fail to file income tax returns”. Yesterday the bill passed the New Jersey Senate by a 23 to 11 vote. The bill states that candidates for President and Vice President must now disclose 5 years of federal tax returns to appear on the ballot in New Jersey. Candidates would be required to submit their federal tax returns to the NJ State Division of Elections which would post them online. Electoral College Electors would be prohibited from voting for candidates who don’t comply. This is clearly an attempt to keep the incumbent President off the ballot and give Cory Booker a clear path to the White House.
Republican State Senator Joseph Pennacchio who opposed the bill unsuccessfully made a motion to also have it apply to candidates for Governor and the State Legislature.
The bill now goes to the Democratic-led Assembly. If the measure is passed there it would head to Democratic Governor Murphy for his signature.
Back in November Governor Murphy signed legislation dubbed “Cory’s Law” allowing Cory “Spartacus” Booker to run for President and reelection to his Senate seat simultaneously. NJ A4674 (18R) sponsored by State Senate President Steve Sweeney states “This bill clarifies that a person may seek the offices of Member of the United States House of Representatives or United States Senator and President or Vice President simultaneously”. Republican state Chairman Doug Steinhardt called Democrats hypocritical for passing the law since some Democrats including State Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg introduced legislation in 2015 that would have forced then Governor Chris Christie to resign if he ran for President. Now that Spartacus has decided to run for President Democrats, as they often do, have changed their collective minds.
New Jersey Democrats are working hard to give Cory Booker a clear path to the White House.
Why are more Conservatives in New Jersey and across the United States not outraged by New Jersey’s attempt to keep the incumbent President off the ballot? As I sit at my desk this morning angrily writing this blog post I do not understand why Conservatives are not as mad as I am. I do not understand why Republicans in New Jersey will not unite and stand up to Murphy and the State Legislators! We need to stand up and tell Murphy, Sweeney, Coughlin and the rest of the Democratic lawmakers in New Jersey that they cannot run this state like their private kingdom and we will not be denied our right to vote for the incumbent President!
I am calling for Conservatives to unite and file a class action lawsuit against Governor Murphy and the New Jersey legislature. This cannot be allowed to stand. It’s time for us to take our state back! Given there is a Conservative majority on the Supreme Court today which has the potential to increase with rumors about Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s health the best case scenario is this bill makes it before the Court prior to the 2020 election.
New Jersey Republicans are slowing coming together to support the effort to recall Murphy and the March on Trenton. We can come together and fight this! This is the most outrageous infringement by Democrats to date. I am not an Attorney and cannot file a lawsuit but I will do everything I can to help organize the effort to proceed with a class action lawsuit. Feel free to contact me by email email@example.com.
GET MAD NEW JERSEY! THESE DEMOCRATS MUST BE STOPPED!
