When did Democrats start hating America and the American people?

For the past 22 days the American government has been in a partial shutdown.  Congressional leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have been shown to be disingenuous every time they’ve spoken about the shutdown as the younger generation like Cory Booker and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have taken their foolishness and lies to social media.  There is no doubt there is an emergency at our southern border that is causing a crisis across the United States.  Many prominent Democrats including Obama, Clinton, Biden, Schumer and Fienstein agreed with our border crisis and even the President’s approach to border security before then candidate Trump made border security a campaign issue.  Now Democrats are putting partisan politics before the safety and security of America.   It all leaves me wondering.  When did Democrats start hating America and the American people?

The modern Democratic National Committee dates back to 1848 although other variations of the Democratic party date back to the 1790’s.  In the 1850’s southern Democrats supported slavery and demanded slavery outside the south.  Democrats at the time supported a fugitive slave law to recapture escaped slaves, America acquiring Cuba (where slavery already existed), acceptance of the Dred Scott decision of the Supreme Court and adopting a federal slave code to protect slavery in the territories.  Democratic President James Buchanan supported the southern Democrats position on slavery.  It was those who opposed the expansion of slavery into the territories who formed the modern Republican party in 1854.  As we all know it was the Republican push to abolish slavery and the Democrats support to expand slavery that ignited the Civil War.

At the 1924 Democratic National Convention a resolution denouncing the Ku Klux Klan did not pass.  It was not until President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (passed by a Congress that was largely Republican) that Democrats began to show support for the Civil Rights Movement.  While modern progressive Democrats like to portray Republicans as practicing racism it’s well documented that racism is deeply rooted within the Democratic party.

In the 1884 Presidential election Democrat Grover Cleveland took the White House.  Cleveland lead the conservative Bourbon Democrats.  The Bourbon Democrats were Capitalists who represented business interests at the time including the railroad and banking.  Conservative Capitalist leadership in the Democratic party is a far cry from today’s Democrats!  By 1893 Democrats were campaigning against the Gold Standard.

The Korean War, Vietnam War, Iran Hostage Crisis, Cold War with the Soviet Union, Bay of Pigs invasion are just some examples of Democratic foreign policy failures.

There were periods when Democrats were pro-free market Capitalism and pushed for deregulation as much as republicans and it looked like at least some in the party wanted to take America in the right direction.  The terms of Presidents Carter and Clinton are two examples.   During this period more Centrist and Conservative leaders lead the Democratic party and set its course.  It’s interesting at the time that Liberal Progressive factions of the party felt alienated by party leadership.  I imagine that is how the more Centrist and Conservative factions of the Democratic Party feel today.

While today’s Democratic party is a radical left party with Socialist leanings it was Democratic President Bill Clinton who signed the The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996.  In 1992 Clinton made a campaign promise to “end welfare as we have come to know it”.

The Presidency of Barack Obama was marred in failure although a big win for the Republican Party.  Democrats lost over 1,000 state legislature, governor and congressional seats during Obama’s two terms as President.  As Obama left office the Republican party was the strongest it has been since the 1920’s.  Not quite two years into his Presidency Democrats had the biggest midterm loss in 72 years.  Obama left behind a legacy of a war on law enforcement, diminished race relations and failed policy including his Affordable Care Act.

In talking about the government shutdown Congressional Democrats seem to forget that they shut down the government from October 1st to October 17th 2013 over maintaining funding for the failed Affordable Care Act.  During that shutdown approximately 800,000 federal employees were furloughed and another 1.3 million were required to report to work not knowing when they would get paid.  The 2013 shutdown was the 3rd longest in U.S. history.

Although a few Democrats over the years have tried to do right and for a time the Democratic party seemed like it was heading in the right direction you might say that factions of the Democratic party have always hated America and the American people.  The party has moved far from it’s Centrist past to something now unrecognizable.  It’s leaders put partisan politics far above America or the American people.

How then have Democrats convinced those who need the most help that the Democratic party is in their corner?  I believe it’s simple.  Those in the Democratic party are expert marketers who know how to play on the emotional issues facing the American people while Republicans speak on facts.  Of course we all know the Democrats do nothing for the very people they claim to represent but Americans fall for their rhetoric.  People vote against things not for them and the Democrats play that hand perfectly.

During the 2016 Presidential campaign Hillary Clinton called Trump supporters “Deplorable”.  During the 2008 Presidential campaign Obama said that Rust Belt voters “get bitter, cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them”.

What makes it worse that is that Democrats overwhelmingly dominate media, the news networks and our colleges and universities.  Everywhere you look is anti-Conservative and pro-Liberal propaganda.  Our kids are exposed to it on campus as we work hard to fulfill our dream of providing them a college education.  Those who do not make the effort to research fact are exposed to it every time they turn on almost any form of media or go onto the Internet and believe the Liberal propaganda.

Democrats laid the foundation long ago that is paying dividends today.  They have convinced their base that the President is lying about the need for border security and a wall.  They have used those most effected by the government shutdown as pawns in their political game.  Don’t forget as I said in the beginning of this blog post prominent Democrats including Obama, Clinton, Biden, Schumer and Fienstein agreed with our border crisis and even the President’s approach to border security before then candidate Trump made border security a campaign issue.  However they have convinced many in America that this is Trump’s shutdown and the border crisis is a Trump lie.

Watch prominent Democrats flip flop on illegal immigration.

Among President Trump’s loudest opposition is Chuck Schumer who said some of the same things Trump is saying today.   Could Schumer be any more disingenuous?  Watch this video to see Schumer’s position on illegal immigration in 2009.

Border security continues to be one of the most important issues facing America.  President Trump has said that illegal immigration costs the United States $250 billion per year.  The Pew Research Center found that of the 11.3 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. in 2016 an estimated 5.6 million were from Mexico.  In a recent 5 day ICE operation in New Jersey ICE officers arrested 105 illegal immigrants.  Of those about 80% of them had prior criminal convictions and several are wanted by Interpol for crimes in their home countries.  The criminal records of those arrested include international warrants and convictions for indecent acts by compulsion causing bodily injury, distribution of psychotropic drugs, fraud, forcible touching of a child, distribution of narcotics, prostitution with a child, endangering the welfare of a child, distribution of narcotics on school grounds, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, possession and distribution of narcotics, bank fraud, criminal sexual contact, conspiracy to commit robbery and suspicion of being a member of a street gang.  ICE continues to work hard to protect America but a barrier at our southern border remains critical to American safety and security.

Congressional Democrats need to stop pandering to the far left wing of the Democratic party, stop manipulating their base, put the safety and security of the American people first and work with President Trump on a solution that will secure our borders and reopen the government.  It’s time they put America not the Democratic Party first.
