Week in review 11/12/18 through 11/18/18.

It was an interesting week in New Jersey from the $15 minimum wage moving forward to the state’s failed response to a relatively small snow event.

Monday 11/12/18

A $15 minimum wage is moving towards reality in New Jersey.  Enjoy your $25 cheeseburger.

State officials said they expect a vote on increasing the minimum wage in New Jersey from $8.60 per hour to $15 per hour in December or January.  We took a look at the negative effects a $15 minimum wage will have on small businesses, consumers and even the very people it was designed to help including reference to a prior blog post where we provided the results of studies by economists around the country demonstrating the negative effects of a dramatically increased minimum wage.  We also suggested an alternative to a $15 minimum wage.

Since this post the October unemployment numbers were released.  Unemployment in New Jersey is at 4.1%.  This is the lowest jobless rate in New Jersey in 17-years.  Dramatically increasing the minimum wage all but guarantees we reverse that trend.

Congratulations to Senator Cory Booker for attempting to take us one step closer to socialism.

U.S. Senator Cory “Spartacus” Booker announced he is introducing a bill to give every child born in the U.S. a government funded interest bearing savings account.  The American Opportunity Account Act would give every child born in the U.S. a $1,000 interest bearing savings account at birth and deposit an additional up to $2,000 per year until the child’s 18th birthday – all funded by the U.S. government.  The program is expected to cost $60-billion dollars.  Booker says he will fund the program by increasing the capital gains tax rate by 4.2 points, increasing the estate tax,  and raising taxes on multimillion-dollar inheritances.

Booker says his proposed bill is aimed at fighting “income equality”.  When will Liberals begin to fight for “effort equality”?  Given all of the talk lately about Booker being a potential Democratic candidate for President in 2020 and his grandstanding at Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing I’d say his bill is aimed at gaining Liberal support for 2020.

Why do New Jersey’s Governor and Attorney General feel they don’t have to enforce the law?

New Jersey Attorney General Grewal will announce sanctuary rules limiting New Jersey’s cooperation with ICE in December.  “We’ll be issuing a new revised directive to give our county prosecutors and state law enforcement better guidance on what their role is and isn’t when it comes to the enforcement of federal civil immigration law,” Grewal said.   He went on to say “we’re not here as state law enforcement officers to enforce federal civil immigration laws and we’re going to spell that out in the forthcoming guidance.”

Did the Attorney General of the State of New Jersey say publicly that it is not the responsibility of New Jersey’s law enforcement officers to enforce laws?  If someone hijacks a plane or robs a bank in New Jersey is Grewal going to instruct New Jersey’s law enforcement officers to not only refuse to assist but stand in the way of federal law enforcement as he in standing in the way of ICE enforcing federal immigration laws?  If Murphy’s socialist programs are not costing New Jersey’s tax payers enough his refusal to cooperate with federal law enforcement to enforce immigration laws is costing the state $16 billion in federal funding.

WARNING:  Do not read Governor Murphy’s Facebook feed when you are trying to go to sleep.  It won’t go well.

As his ongoing grandstanding against President Trump continues Murphy pledges that New Jersey will do everything it can to help rebuild and provide aid and support to Puerto Rico.  The reality is President Trump is ending federal disaster funding in Puerto Rico because there is evidence that relief funds are being misused. According to The Hill the Trump administration’s response was unprecedented.  “The longest sustained domestic air mission of food and water response.  The largest disaster commodity distribution mission in U.S. history”.  Spending more than $70 billion in aid, supplying 3.8 million meals, sending 148 airlifts and deploying the USS Comfort.

Apparently our Governor forgets that he is sworn to serve the people of New Jersey and doesn’t care much about our concerns as he pushes forward his socialist, overtaxed, sanctuary state, $15 an hour minimum wage and legalized marijuana vision for New Jersey.   Once he pushes the businesses and revenue generators out of New Jersey I’m not sure who he thinks will be left to fund his socialist dream.  Oh that’s right.  The marijuana tax!  Please note sarcasm.

New Jersey Governor Murphy does realize it snows here, right?

In another #FAIL for the Murphy administration a few inches of snow turned New Jersey into total chaos Thursday.  In East Orange approximately 100 students had to spend the night at school because of road conditions.  Commuters who commute by bus from Manhattan were told to find another way home.  Drivers spent hours on roadways some even running out of gas and police responded to hundreds of accidents.  Across the state we averaged 1 to 6 inches of snow.  What would have happened had been a significant snow storm?

Things got so bad that on Friday NJ.com had to ask What went wrong and why wasn’t NJ better prepared?  Murphy claimed the state was caught off guard by the magnitude of the storm blaming weather forecasters “Nobody got this right.  This gives forecasting a bad name”.  Governor Murphy, may I say that your response gives Governoring a bad name?

Has failed candidate Vincent Squire lost his mind or suffering from narcissism?

Disgraced and failed 2017 Pennsauken Township Committee and 2018 Camden County Freeholder candidate Vincent Squire may have officially lost his mind.  Or maybe he’s suffering from a narcissistic personality.  I don’t know.  I have no professional qualifications to make a diagnosis and won’t try to get into the depths of Squires mind.  What I do know is that Squire is frivolously using the legal system to try to shut down this blog.   He came right out and said so in this video.  As a two time candidate for public office Squire apparently has a problem with anyone digging into his criminal record, qualifications (or lack thereof), pending criminal charges, lies and inaccurate positions on the very issues he has run on. Did I forget to mention the foreclosure and pending sheriff sale on his family home?

While claiming I am harassing him for reporting factual information on this blog Squire threatened physical violence against me, “served” me with a fake $10 million lawsuit, filed frivolous criminal charges against me, said on video that I had been convicted of two charges (untrue) and that he’s going to shut down “your rag, I mean your blog” and now is arguing with people on the Internet and accusing those people of being me

This all begs the question who is harassing who?
